Author Guidelines

Boitatá welcomes original scholarly contributions that engage critically with oral poetics, literature, cultural studies, folklore, language, performance, and related interdisciplinary fields. Authors are invited to submit research articles, theoretical studies, critical essays, reviews, and other scholarly contributions that are relevant to the aims and scope of the journal. Manuscripts should present original research, demonstrate academic rigor, and make a clear contribution to existing scholarship. Submissions should not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal at the time of submission.

Manuscripts should be prepared in a clear and consistent academic format and submitted in an editable electronic file. The title should be concise and informative, followed by the author's full name, institutional affiliation, and appropriate contact information. Authors should provide an abstract that briefly states the purpose, methodology or approach, principal findings or arguments, and significance of the study, together with a suitable selection of keywords. The main text should be logically organized with appropriate headings and subheadings. Where applicable, manuscripts should include sections such as introduction, theoretical or literature background, methodology, analysis or discussion, conclusions, and references.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript is written in clear and appropriate academic language. All factual statements, quotations, interpretations, and borrowed ideas should be properly acknowledged through consistent in-text citations and a complete reference list. References should follow the journal's prescribed bibliographic style and should be checked carefully for accuracy and completeness. Authors should ensure that all sources cited in the text appear in the reference list and that all references listed are cited in the manuscript.

Tables, figures, illustrations, photographs, and other supplementary materials should be numbered consecutively and clearly identified in the manuscript. Each visual or supplementary element should have an appropriate title or caption and, where necessary, a source or explanatory note. Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted materials are of sufficient quality for publication and that any necessary permissions for third-party material have been obtained.

Authors must ensure that submissions are original and free from plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of academic misconduct. Any use of another author's words, ideas, data, images, or other materials must be appropriately attributed. Authors should disclose any relevant conflicts of interest and provide accurate information concerning the research, authorship, affiliations, and sources of support where applicable. All individuals who have made a substantial scholarly contribution should be appropriately recognized as authors, while individuals who have not contributed sufficiently should not be listed as authors.

The journal may subject submitted manuscripts to an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability, originality, academic quality, and relevance to the journal's scope. Manuscripts that meet the preliminary requirements may be sent for peer review in accordance with the journal's established editorial procedures. Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in response to editorial or reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts should clearly address the requested changes and may be subject to further evaluation before a final editorial decision is reached.

Authors should carefully proofread their manuscripts before submission and ensure that all required information and files have been provided. Any subsequent corrections should be communicated promptly to the editorial team. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original, accurately presented, ethically conducted where applicable, and suitable for consideration by Boitatá. The editorial team reserves the right to make decisions concerning the evaluation, revision, acceptance, or rejection of manuscripts in accordance with the journal's editorial and scholarly standards.
