Plagiarism Policy

Boitatá is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of research misconduct. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must represent original scholarly work and must appropriately acknowledge the ideas, words, data, interpretations, images, and other contributions of other authors.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the direct copying of text without appropriate quotation and citation, presenting another person's ideas or work as one's own, substantial paraphrasing without proper acknowledgement, reuse of previously published material without appropriate disclosure, and submitting substantially similar work to more than one publication. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original and that all sources have been properly cited and referenced.

Submitted manuscripts may be examined using appropriate plagiarism-detection and similarity-checking methods. A similarity report may be used by the editorial team as one component of the assessment process. The presence of a similarity match does not automatically establish plagiarism, as legitimate quotations, references, commonly used terminology, and properly attributed material may contribute to similarity. The editorial team will assess the nature, extent, and context of any identified overlap.

If substantial plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified before publication, the manuscript may be rejected. Where concerns arise after publication, the journal may investigate the matter and take appropriate editorial action, which may include issuing a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the seriousness and circumstances of the case.

Authors may be asked to provide explanations or supporting information when significant concerns regarding originality or attribution arise. Failure to provide a satisfactory explanation may result in rejection or further editorial action. Where appropriate, the journal may communicate serious cases of suspected misconduct to the relevant authors' institutions or other responsible bodies.

Authors are also expected to disclose any substantial overlap between a submitted manuscript and their previously published or concurrently submitted work. Reuse of one's own previously published material without appropriate acknowledgement or disclosure may constitute self-plagiarism or redundant publication and will be evaluated by the editorial team.

The journal encourages authors to maintain accurate research records, cite sources responsibly, obtain appropriate permissions where necessary, and ensure that all contributors and sources are properly acknowledged. The final responsibility for the originality, authenticity, and ethical integrity of a submitted manuscript rests with the authors.
